goodbye, france

so, it's germany vs sweden, england vs ecuador, argentina vs mexico, portugal vs netherlands, italy vs australia, brazil vs ghana, switzerland vs ukraine and spain vs france.

caught the tunisia-ukraine game. tunisia played very well, even when a man down. the ukraine penalty was a dubious decision. jaidi, trabelsi and nomouchi played very well for tunisia. ukraine hadnt been very impressive.

caught the france-togo game too. saw a much-improved france. no doubt togo were seriously lousy, but france played much better, i guess. more fluid in attack. which makes you wonder: was zidane the liability? i think with zidane, they slow down alot. but wif no central playmaker, they are able to just run at defenders and create something from there. malouda, ribery, henry are all pacey players. that's a different approach, rather than rely on zidane to make the passes. and seems to work quite well. though against togo, you can never be too satisfied. defensively they looked shaky at times, while they also gave away the ball unnecessarily in midfield. they still need to polish things up abit here. and trezeguet shuld have been sharper. but that's it. after this world cup, you won't hear much about france for a while. they will slip into obscurity, just as they had risen into prominence out of nowhere in 1998. i mean, they call ribery their brightest talent, and he's like 23 already. while the argentines hail messi as their brightest talent, and he's less than 20. podolski and schweinsteiger are ard there too. and u have only one, while holland has robben, van persie. u see the difference?

but i guess the main point is that rtm1 rocks.
