marie laura delie is a goal machine in the qualifiers and once again got that goal.

the interesting thing is that for the second match in a row, the captain soubeyrand was taken off at half time. i think they switched tactically from 4-3-3 to 4-2-3-1.

germany 2-1 canada
germany had many chances but conceded a late goal to set up a nervy finish. that is the lesson for all teams playing against germany. get that one goal, and they will get nervous.

england 1-1 mexico
an england keeper howler resulted in shared points. england didnt start well in 2009 but went all the way to the final, so i think they will grow into the tournament, since the team is more or less the same team.

japan 2-1 new zealand
a wonderful free kick from miyama puts japan in a strong position in this group.
