bastian

and he knew he had scored a very special goal.

portugal, despite having the lion's share of possession, never looked like they were going to spoil the german party.

schweinsteiger's first goal came out of the blue, and is testament to the defining characteristic of the ball: the lightness of it, and the resultant wicked trajectory. maybe the keeper should have done better; but it was still a good goal. right in between the keeper's arms.

the third goal was truly magnificent. placed into the right side of the goal. all the way. a very special goal.

that is the reason why i always believe that right-footers can play on the left and vice versa; you always have the option to cut in to shoot.

of course it's much much better if you can play with both legs. then, you can do anything.

and i thought kehl played quite well. a touch of class with tenacity. especially that attempt at goal, when he tried to lob ricardo, who managed to backtrack and tip it over the bar. i think that was classy. too bad it din go in.

3-1 to germany. much to my relief, because i had this bad feeling that portugal would win.
