back
in the time i was away:
valencia survived relegation.
kashima are still winless in 7 games
ajax did not qualify for the champions league next season
justine henin retired.
i think henin's retirement came as a total shock to me. i remember sitting on the train to Gouda and seeing this guy reading the newspapers with this headline: Henin: Tennis is niet alles in mijn leven
i took a copy of that free newspapers and scanned through it, using my german and english to try to understand what had happened.
i think it takes guts to walk away from the only thing you have ever known, to acknowledge that something is over when it is over, to make the decision to give it up.
and the belgian strike, which resulted in me having to cab to aachen from liege taught me something:
what is meant to be, will be.
you can never run away from your destiny.
