Cafe in Matisse

“The other day, I met up with my best friend in Matisse. Matisse is the best place to chill. It is a pedestrian area. Yes, the entire district. There are cafes everywhere. University students like to come over to do their work and relax; their university is just in the next district. Historically, this place has always been bustling, because this was where the artisans and artists were based. They would sell their craft here. Even today, there are a lot of shops around selling traditional stuff like woodwork. And there are artists around to paint your portrait. Not to mention those buskers. It’s a lively scene. This is really the artistic soul of Venprek. Tourists like to come here to lap it up as well, and they contribute to the flavour. Every first Sunday of the month, there’s a fair at the Marktpaz, the Market Place. You can always get a good bargain there.

Back to my friend, yeah, we met up at one of those cafes, had coffee, people-watched and talked over old times. Just like in the past, when we were university students. How time has flown. Now, we are working adults in society, leading our own, separate busy lives. Isn’t it amazing how two people can be in the same city, and yet have not seen each other for half a year?

But in Venprek, we have this saying: Two people drifting apart will only meet on the other side of the Earth.”
