bus stop in mechantre
“It is raining like mad.”
“It always rains a lot in September.”
“Really?”
“Maybe we just haven’t had time to pause and watch the rain.”
And so, we watched the rain at the bus-stop, till the bus came ten minutes later, right on the dot. When I first went abroad, I couldn’t really get used to the idea that buses don’t necessarily come on time. I think to a certain extent, we have taken the efficiency of our public transport for granted. Coming back was like a rediscovery. I marvel at the way our buses, ferry and trains are always on time.
So much so that it seems a little too mechanical, too efficient. The drivers are humans too, not robots. Have we, in the name of efficiency, thrown too much away?
Yet, having said that, we would still rant against the bus which came a few seconds late.
