copa america

i sort of saw it coming. but just didn't really believe it would happen. but brazil are copa america champions again. and in a rather convincing way, which was what i thought would happen.

what happened to argentina was basically what happened to henin in wimbledon. they don't know how to react to setbacks. there was certainly despair. you might argue that they went down against usa but came back to win 4-1. usa were never in brazil's league.

brazil played to plan. riquelme didnt show up. messi was shut out. tevez was alone. the defence was asleep. and the cup goes to brazil. as simple as that.

alot of people, when you ask them about tevez, will tell u that tevez is a winner who carries the team. well, i think the person in the stadium this morning who most embodies the quality of a 'winner' within him is dunga.

they started with a defeat. they were criticised throughout. and when the whistle was blown, i am sure everyone would agree, that argentina had no answer to brazil's game. all the usual stats, eg shots on goal, would show that the match was even, and possession was clearly in argentina's favour, close to 60 percent i think. but stats don't show everything. brazil's counterattacks were more dangerous. the reason why the number of shots was ard the same was simply because last ditch tackles were made, crosses were not reached, and brazilian players collided into each other.

brazil has every right to celebrate. while they didnt dominate argentina, they always had the game under control.
